This custom transfer case knob (4WD knob) is designed for the 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner (2010-2024 models). It replaces the stock knob and allows for personalization in color and finish.

The knob comes in three parts: the base, the top, and the locking pin. You will need to reuse your original rubber skirt and spring from the stock knob. The locking pin can be reused or replaced with the new one provided, depending on your preference.

You can choose colors for the base, top, indicator stripe, and locking pin. Standard options are listed in the dropdown menu, but for other colors, please see the personalization section and add your requests there. All parts are 3D printed using PETG plastic for durability.

Installation is straightforward: remove the stock knob, transfer the reusable parts, and assemble the new one. No tools are required beyond what’s needed to access the knob. There is also an installation video.

  • Reuse from OEM knob: Spring, rubber skirt, locking button (optional)

Installation Steps

  • Remove OEM Knob
  • Pull OEM knob straight up to detach from the transfer shaft.
  • Take Apart the OEM Knob
  • Squeeze the sides of the knob top, then pull up (rock slightly if needed) to separate from the base.
  • Remove the rubber skirt; lift out the locking button and spring. Keep spring and skirt; store other OEM parts.
  • Assemble New Knob
  • Squeeze the new knob top’s sides and pull up to separate from the base. Lift out the locking button.
  • Insert OEM spring into the new locking button’s back hole. Lay the button into the base through side notches; center spring in the base’s support hole.
  • Attach OEM rubber skirt, with the square opening toward the locking button’s front.
  • Align the new top with the center tab (in the inside of the top part) toward the button’s front, fitting it into the skirt’s square hole. Squeeze the sides and press evenly. If the top goes on crooked, lift the lower side and try again. Once it has started evenly, hold the locking button in and snap the top firmly into place.
  • Install Knob
  • Align the notch on the knob base with the transfer shaft’s notch. Press and hold the locking button while pressing the knob down until it seats at the base’s chamfered (tapered) area.
